Al Grigsby joined the Seattle U Development staff as Assistant Athletic Director for Development in May 2022.
Grigsby joined the Seattle U men's basketball staff as Assistant to the Head Coach in September 2021. Prior to that, he spent the better part of the last two decades working as a sales and business development executive for Bioved Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He spearheaded innovative business development initiatives with a specific focus on identifying international marketing and distribution partnerships in the Asia Pacific region for key product lines, and managed prospecting, due diligence, licensing, product registration, trademarking, marketing, manufacturing and distribution of three product lines, valued up to $1M.
Grigsby's previous coaching experience includes being on staff with the women's basketball team at Mission College from 2004-05 and the men's basketball staff at Gavilan College from 2006-07. He has also served as a coach and mentor with West Valley Basketball Club from 2002-20, where, in addition to coaching, his duties included developing fundraising programs to support underprivileged youth and community outreach.
Grigsby played basketball at Cal in the 1990s, helping the Bears advance to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 twice, then went on to play professional basketball in Japan from 1997-2002. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from University of California, Berkeley.
