2010-11: Frey joined the Seattle University swimming program as a freshman.
At Seattle U's home meet against Simon Fraser on Nov. 13, Frey swam the final leg on the third-place 400 medley relay team (4:24.02) ... Placed fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.46
Against Nevada on Jan. 29, Frey swam the final leg on the fourth-place 200 medley relay in 27.27 (1:58.68)
On Feb. 5 against Boise St. and Oregon St., she finished the 50 freestyle in 27.31 ... Swam the 100 freestyle in 59.39 ...
High School: Frey swam for West Seattle High School for four years. She went to state in the 50 free in 2009 and 2010, was named team MVP 2008-2010, and was team captain her senior year. She also ran two years of cross country and played softball one year for the Wildcats. In 2008 she was named Cross Country MVP. Frey was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Club Experience: Frey was a member of Whitewater Aquatics from 2004 to 2009. She won the Paul Robeson Award twice.
Personal: Full name is Melanie Jane Frey. Parents are Kristie and Jeff Frey, and she has a younger brother named Rhyse. Frey is an environmental science major.
