Carey Campbell is in his second year as the primary throwing coach for Seattle University track and field.
In the 2019 track and field season, Campbell coached Nicole Whittern to a bronze medal in the javelin throw at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. In all, six different throwers achieved 14 total PR’s under Campbell in 2019.
Before coming to Seattle U, Campbell was a track and field coach at Ballard High School.
In his undergraduate career at the University of Washington, Campbell led the team as a hammer and shot put specialist and was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team, also garnering two conference All-Academic Honorable Mentions.
Originally born in Munster, Ind., Campbell was one of the top shot putters in Washington State as a student of Lake Stevens High School, winning the district title in 2012 and taking third place overall in the 4A State Championships in 2012 and 2013. He also played on Lake Stevens’ varsity football team for three years, and was named to the all-district First Team in 2012 as an offensive lineman.
