Eric Schueffner

Eric Schueffner is in his fifth year with the Seattle University cross country and track and field programs as an assistant coach, focusing on sprints, hurdles, and relays. During the 2010 season, five individual and four relay records were broken in the second year of Division I competition. Four individuals and one relay were in scoring position at the Great West Conference outdoor conference championships, finishing with titles in the men's 400m hurdles and 400m dash.  In 2009, Schueffner coached Seattle U. athletes to 21 new school records during their first year of Division I competition.  During 2008, Schueffner placed nine individual and two relays in scoring position at the GNAC indoor conference championships and ten athletes and four relays in scoring position at the GNAC outdoor conference championships. Since arriving at Seattle University in 2006, Seattle U. sprinters and hurdlers have broken 26 of 28 school records in sprints, hurdles, and relays.     

Prior to his time at SU, Schueffner was an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin. From 2004-2006 he assisted in sprints, specializing in the 400 and 400 hurdle events, and also helped coach the high jumpers, pole vaulters, and multi-event athletes. Before joining the Badgers, Schueffner spent five years as an assistant coach at La Follette High School in Madison, Wisconsin. At La Follette, he coached the sprints, hurdles, relays, and high jump. He was part of the coaching staff for the 2002 state champion boys team and also helped the boys squad to three conference championships.

Schueffner was a four-year letterwinner in track and field at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He was a two-time all-conference selection and was served as team captain as a senior. Named the conference scholar-athlete of the year in 1996, Schueffner graduated Magna Cum Laude from UW-Whitewater with a degree in Graphic Design. He received a Masters Degree in Sports Administration and Leadership from Seattle University in 2008 and holds a level I USATF certification.
