2021 Outdoor: Posted the WAC's 11th-best, SU's third all-time and new personal best of 4008 in the heptathlon at the WAC Championship... Marked the WAC's 13th-best and season best of 1.55m (5' 1") in the high jump at the Chris Rinne Twilight... at that same meet, posted the WAC's 24th-best, SU's eighth all-time and new personal record of 5.23m (17' 2") in the long jump... marked a new personal best and SU's 10th all-time shot put mark of 9.61m (31' 6.5") at the WAC Championship.
2020 Indoor: Academic All-WAC… scored in the high jump with a mark of 1.53m (5’ 00.25”) at the WAC Indoor Championships… at the Idaho Team Challenge, tied for the season’s ninth-best high jump effort in the WAC with 1.57m (5’ 1.75”), third in indoor school history… posted a high jump of 1.50m (4’ 11”) at the UW Preview.
2019 Outdoor: Academic All-WAC... at the WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, cleared 1.53m in the high jump… took third in the high jump at the Ken Shannon Invitational with a personal-best 1.55m, good for the WAC’s 14th-best mark of the season… also ran the 400m in 1:02.31 at that meet… at the St. Martin’s Jay Hammer Invitational, posted a time of 1:03.44 in the 400m dash.
2019 Indoor: Academic All-WAC… had the conference’s 20th-best high jump at the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with 1.49m… also set a personal record in the 400m dash at that meet, finishing the race in 1:01.40… had a time of 1:02.37 in the 400m dash at the Husky Classic.
A four-year varsity letterman on Tacoma Baptist High School’s track and field team, Van Liew competed at State each year… was named Tacoma Baptist’s Freshman of the Year… awarded the Academic All-League National Scholar-Athlete Award from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2017… also played four years of varsity basketball, starting for three of those years… Tacoma Baptist varsity basketball finished sixth at the 2017 Washington State Championships… played volleyball for two years.
Rachel Van Liew is majoring in Computer Science with a specialization in math… currently acts as a Writing Center consultant at Seattle U… in high school, was a secretary in the National Honor Society.
