High School: Gus was a three-time cross country team MVP as well as the 2010 track and field team MVP at David Douglas High School. A two-time all-conference selection as well as an all-state honoree in 2012, he won the Mt. Hood Conference Art Skipper Jr. Memorial Track & Field Award in 2012 as well as the Terry Porter Make it Better Award presented by the Portland Trailblazers in 2011. He graduated at the top of his class and won numerous academic awards during his high school career.
Personal: Born December 24, 1993 as Jose Gus Arroyo, he is the oldest son of Jose and Yolanda Arroyo with two younger brothers named Gus and Oscar. He is double majoring in humanities for leadership and psychology.
