High School: Elena was a three-year letterwinner in cross country and a two-year letterwinner in track and field at Nathan Hale High School. In cross country, she finished in sixth place in the metro championships, in eighth place in the district championships, and in 26th place in the state championships. She earned the most inspirational award from her teammates four times: twice for track and field, once for cross country, and once for cheerleading.
Personal: Elena is the daughter of Veronica Diligencia and Charles Smith, and she has two older siblings (Kisha Ann and Kofi) as well as a younger sibling (Felicidad). Born January 31, 1994, Elena is a nursing major.
