2013-14: At WAC Championships, anchored 800 freestyle relay with split of 1:39.72 as team finished seventh in 6:41.36 ... finished 26th in 50 freestyle preliminaries in 20.95 seconds after posting time of 20.97 seconds in swim-off ... anchored 200 freestyle relay with split of 20.38 seconds as team finished seventh in 1:21.95 ... qualified for "B" final in 100 butterfly with preliminary time of 48.97 seconds, then won race to finish ninth overall in event with evening time of 48.90 seconds ... swam third leg of 400 medley relay with split of 48.48 seconds as team finished sixth in 3:19.40 ... qualified for "A" final in 200 butterfly with preliminary time of 1:48.44, then finished sixth overall with evening mark of 1:48.81.

At Husky Invitational Dec. 6-8, finished 11th overall in 50 freestyle in 21.28 seconds after preliminary time of 21.35 seconds ... swam third leg of third place 200 medley relay with split of 22.61 seconds ... finished fourth overall in 100 butterfly in 49.95 seconds after preliminary time of 50.05 seconds.

On Oct. 19 versus CSUB and GCU, finished seventh in 50 freestyle with a time of 21.69 ... finished second in 100 butterfly with a time of 50.85 ... swam third leg in 400 freestyle relay with a total relay time of 3:07.57 ... swam third leg for third place in 200 medley relay with total relay time of 1:34.97.

2012-13: At MPSF Championships Feb. 20-23, placed 11th in 200 yard butterfly with finals time of 1:49.85 (preliminary time 1:50.06) ... took 17th in 100 yard butterfly with finals time of 49.61 (preliminary time 49.71) ... swam second leg in 800 yard free relay in 1:39.26 (relay time 6:40.71) ... led 200 yard free relay with leg of 21.60 (relay time 1:26.45) ... swam 200 yard freestyle in 1:41.63.

At Simon Fraser Feb. 2, took second in 100 meter butterfly with time of 58.56 .... placed fourth in 200 meter freestyle with time of 1:59.17.

On Jan. 18-19, Mendez took ninth in 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.47 ... took eighth in 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.28 ... swam third leg of fifth place 200 yard freestyle relay in 21.55 (relay time 1:26.76) ... took ninth in 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.08 ... took tenth in 100 yard butterfly with a time of 53.09 ... and swam lead leg of eighth place 400 yard freestyle relay in 48.45 (relay time 3:17.30)

Versus Whitworth on Jan. 12, Mendez-Beck took second in 100 yard butterfly with mark of 51.89 ... took second in 200 yard butterfly with time of 1:57.29 ...  swam third leg in third-place 400 yard medley relay in 51.29 (relay time 3:36.36) ... led second-fastest 400 yard freestyle relay in 47.57 (relay time 3:13.83).

Versus Pacific Lutheran on Jan. 11, Mendez-Beck won 100 yard freestyle in 47.46 ... took second in200 yard freestyle with time of 1:46.21 ... led 200 yard freestyle relay in 22.05 (relay time 1:31.14).

On Nov 30 to Dec 2 in the Husky Invitational, Mendez-Beck swam the 200 yard Butterfly in 1:55.13, taking 22nd ... finished 100 yard Butterfly in 51.29, taking 25th ... took the final 100 yard Butterfly in 51.54, finishing 27th ... swam the 200 yard Freestyle in 1:46.18, finished 61st ... anchored 200 yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:37.75, taking 17th ... finished 800 yard Freestyle Relay with his team in 7:06.00, placing 15th.

Versus British Columbia Nov. 17, Mendez-Beck swam the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:45.70, taking fourth ... swam the 200 yard Butterfly in 1:59.55, finishing fourth ... finished the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Versus Simon Fraser Nov. 10, Mendez-Beck swam the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:45.69, taking third ... finished the 200 yard Butterfly in 2:00.30, taking fourth ... swam second leg for second-place 400 yard Freestyle Relay squad in 47.91(relay time 3:13,73).

At CSU Bakersfield Oct. 20, Mendez-Beck swam the 200 yard Freestyle in 1:46.26 and took sixth place ... finished 200 yard Freestyle in 2:01.90 and ranked sixth ... swam the 100 yard Fly with a time of 52.93 and placed sixth.

2011-12: In home intersquad scrimmage Oct. 22, Mendez-Beck swam the 200 yard Freestyle in 1:44.93 ... took third in the 200 yard Butterfly with a time of 1:57.96 ... placed first in the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 53.02 ... swam the 400 yard Freestyle Relay with a relay time of 3:11.89.

At Pacific Nov. 4-5, Mendez-Beck swam the 200 freestyle in 1:46.48 ... finished 9th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.29 ... took 3rd in the 200 freestyle relay with a relay time of 1:27.25 ... finished 6th in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.60 ... placed 3rd in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:56.83 ... swam the 100 butterfly in 53.40 ... finished 3rd in the 400 freestyle relay with a relay time of 3:09.44.

At Denver on Nov. 12, Mendez-Beck swam the 200 freestyle in 1:46.01 ... finished 9th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.47 ... finished 5th in the 400 freestyle relay with a relay time of 3:13.56.

In home intersquad scrimmage Nov. 19, Mendez-Beck finished 3rd in the 50 freestyle in 22.36 ... took 2nd in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:51.01 ... placed 1st in the 400 freestyle relay with a relay time of 3:09.17.

In home meet versus Simon Fraser Jan. 20, took third in 200 yard butterfly with time of 1:55.72 ... swam 200 freestyle in 1:44.87 ... swam third leg of 200 free relay in 24.08 (relay time 1:30.04).

In home meet versus Simon Fraser Jan. 21, took third in 200 yard freestyle with time of 1:45.74 ... swam second leg of third-place 400 free relay in 48.34 (relay time 3:15.08) ... swam 500 free in 5:00.36.

At MPSF Championships Feb. 15-18, took 11th in 200 yard butterfly with time of 1:50.97 ... swam 200 free in 1:42.30 in bonus final (prelim time 1:40.93) ... swam 500 free in 4:40.23 during bonus final (preliminary time 4:36.10) ... swam anchor leg of 800 free relay in 1:40.94 (relay time 6:40.48).

2010-11: At the Army meet on Oct. 8, Mendez-Beck swam the 1,000 free in 10:14.75 for 7th place ... Placed 8th in the 500 free with a time of 4:55.05 

On Nov. 6 at Pacific, Mendez-Beck swam in the 200 medley relay (1:38.35) ... Swam the 200 freestyle in 1:47.52 ... Swam the 200 butterfly in 2:01.00 ... Swam the lead leg on the 400 freestyle relay (3:16.68)

At Seattle U against Simon Fraser, Mendez-Beck finished fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:46.56 ... Swam the 500 freestyle in 4:56.70 for fifth place 

On Dec. 3 at Utah, he finished third in the 1,000 freestyle with a time 10:15.14 ... Placed fourth in the 200 butterfly in 2:01.92 ... Finished fifth in the 100 butterfly in 53.79 ... Swam the final leg of the third-place 200 freestyle relay (1:26.89)

On Dec. 4 at BYU, Mendez-Beck won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:56.41 ... Swam the lead leg of the second-place 400 freestyle relay with a split of 48.41

Against Whitworth on Jan. 28, he placed second in the 200 freestyle in 1:45.27 ... Finished fourth in the 100 butterfly in 53.47 ... Swam the second leg on the winning 800 freestyle relay in 1:45.61 (7:00.85)

At the MPSF Championships, Mendez-Beck Finished fourth in the 200 butterfly in 1:52.39 ... Finished fifth in the 500 freestyle in 4:38.67 ... Finished sixth in the 200 freestyle in 1:42.06 ...  

High School: Mendez-Beck swam all four years at Hillsboro High School.  He competed in the state championships all four years, and took second in the both the 100 fly 200 free twice.  He was named First Team All-Star all four years, and named Iron Man in 2009.  He earned the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2007 and 2008, and Rookie of the Year in 2006.  He broke school records in the 100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle, 200 and 400 freestyle relays, and 200 medley relay. 

Club Experience: Mendez-Beck swam for the Hilsboro Heat for ten years.  He took seventh in the 200 fly at the 2010 Senior Sectionals, eighth in the 100 fly in the 2009 sectionals, and fifth in the 800 freestyle relay at the 2010 Junior Nationals.  He was named to the Oregon Swimming Top Five in 2004, 2005, 2008, and 2009, and won the Most Improved Award in 2005 and 2008 and Most Inspirational in 2010.

Personal: Full name Tomas Joaquin Mendez-Beck. Parents are Mary and Miguel, and he has an older sister named Rebeca and two older brothers named Max and Roman.  His mother swam for both Pacific Lutheran University and the University of Washington.  He is a sports and exercise science major.
