High School: Nakao was a four-year varsity athlete on both the cross country and track and field teams at Skyline High School. He earned team MVP honors in 2013 and posted a cross country meet time of 15:59, good enough for the school's all-time top 10 list. He earned Student of the Month honors, received the Skyline Symphony Most Achieved Award, and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Full name is Joseph Hunter Kee Nakao. His parents are Jerry and Mary Lou Nakao, and he has a younger sister named Molly. Born Dec. 30, 1995, he is planning on majoring in applied mathematics.
