Tim Koepsell is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Seattle University cross country and track and field teams. During the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, he works with the distance runners.

Prior to Seattle, Koepsell spent two years living and training in his former hometown of Reno, Nevada. A graduate of Nevada's Galena High School, Koepsell served as captain to both state champion cross-country and track and field teams. While at Galena he trained and learned under Columbian great Domingo Tibaduiza. Tibaduiza represented his home country in four consecutive Olympics.  Upon graduation he attended Wisconsin Lutheran College, a DIII liberal arts college. Koepsell again served as captain of both cross-country and track and field teams, this time for three seasons. While at WLC he ran to three Lake Michigan Conference cross-country titles, as well as various conference track wins. In 2005 Koepsell led the men's team to a second place finish in the conference team standings, its best finish in school history.

Outside of the running arena, he served the college as a member of the Student Senate and Resident Assistant.  Majoring in U.S. History and Secondary Education, Koepsell found his love for urban education.  Upon graduation, he was extended a call by HOPE Christian School: Fortis. The HOPE schools are a network of Christian college-preparatory schools in Milwaukee’s central city. After his first year at HOPE: Fortis Koepsell decided to return to competitive training and pursue the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 10k. Whether he qualifies or not, come 2012 Koepsell plans a return to HOPE: Fortis and its students.
