SEATTLE – Seattle University women's soccer closed out its regular season Saturday afternoon, earning a 1-1 draw against Denver on Senior Day at Championship Field.

The Redhawks struck first in the 11th minute when Sydney Grundland Lanuza found the back of the net for her second goal of the season. U'i Kaaihue provided the assist, giving Seattle U an early 1-0 advantage.

Seattle U carried the lead into halftime after controlling much of the opening 45 minutes. The Redhawks outshot Denver 14-1 in the first half and held a 44-56 percent possession split, while goalkeeper Kassidy Kirgan recorded one save to preserve the advantage.

Denver responded in the second half, finding the equalizer in the 63rd minute to bring the match level at 1-1.

The Redhawks continued to generate attacking opportunities throughout the second half, finishing with 26 total shots, including 10 on goal. Seattle U also earned 12 corner kicks compared to three for Denver. Despite the offensive pressure, the Pioneers' defense held firm, and neither side found a game-winner.

Kirgan finished with three saves in goal for Seattle U, while the Redhawks limited Denver to eight total shots.

Saturday's contest marked the conclusion of the regular season and Senior Day for the Redhawks, who finish the regular season with an 11-4-5 overall record and a 5-1-3 mark in conference play.

Seattle U now turns its attention to postseason competition. The Redhawks will face Pepperdine in the first round of the West Coast Conference Tournament next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
