SEATTLE - The Seattle University women's tennis team will take on its first tournament of the season this weekend, traveling south to Stanford, Calif., to compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Northwest Regionals from October 8-13.

Four Redhawks will be making an appearance in the tournament, with Montserrat Sierra making the main draw on October 9, and Aleksandra Toneva, Daria Nazarenko, and Kristina Vasileva competing in the qualifiers beginning October 8.

In the doubles competition, the pairings will be Sierra and Nazarenko, and Toneva and Vasileva.

Last week at the Showcase Tournament against Eastern Washington, fifth-year Sierra went undefeated across both days, winning both her singles and doubles matches. When paired with Nazarenko in doubles, the duo won with a convincing 8-3 against Eastern Washington's top pair.

Freshman Toneva made a strong collegiate debut as well, winning her doubles match when she was paired with Sierra, as well as winning her singles matchup on the second day 6-3, 6-4.

Fellow freshman Vasileva won her first-ever collegiate singles match at the showcase, bouncing back after a rough first round to go 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
