SEATTLE — Seattle U women’s soccer looks to bounce back from its first conference loss of the season when it hosts San Diego on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Championship Field. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Toreros is scheduled for 7:00pm PT.

ALL-TIME RECORD
Wednesday’s matchup will mark the fifth all-time meeting between Seattle U and San Diego, with the series currently tied at 2-2-0. The two sides last met in the 2025 season finale, when the Redhawks secured a 3-1 victory in California. Caroline Penner capped her historic season with a brace, while U’i Kaaihue added the dagger to seal the win.

LAST TIME OUT
Seattle U dropped its fourth game of the season and its first in conference play Saturday, falling 3-1 at Pepperdine. After conceding an early goal, the Redhawks responded in the 18th minute with an equalizer from Leila Leano. The teams entered halftime level, but the Waves scored twice in the second half to secure the conference victory.

HOME COOKING
The Redhawks are unbeaten at home this season, posting a 6-0-1 record while outscoring opponents 22-4 at Championship Field. Seattle U has scored multiple goals in all but one of its home matches this season.

REDHAWKS PICKED 5th IN PRESEASON POLL
The Redhawks were picked fifth in the preseason coaches’ poll entering their second season in the West Coast Conference. Seattle U finished tied for fourth with Gonzaga last season, while U’i Kaaihue was the lone Redhawk selected to the preseason All-WCC Team.

LEANO NETS FOURTH OF THE SEASON
Leila Leano scored her fourth goal of the season in Saturday’s match at Pepperdine. After going scoreless as a freshman, Leano has emerged as one of Seattle U’s top scorers, tied with Kailee Wilson for second on the team in goals.

NO DAYS OFF
Kailee Wilson, Sydney Grundland Lanuza, Kyla Schuster, and Ui Kaaihue are the only Redhawks to start all 13 matches this season. Wilson leads the team in minutes played with 1,039.

UNSELFISH PLAY
The Redhawks boast the WCC’s top three assist leaders, with Kyla Schuster pacing the conference with seven. U’i Kaaihue and Kailee Wilson are tied for second with five assists apiece.

SCHUSTER ON RECORD PACE
Kyla Schuster’s seven assists this season lead the WCC and rank ninth nationally. With 17 assists in 51 career games, Schuster averages 0.33 assists per game, the second-highest mark in Seattle U’s NCAA Division I history. She trails only Stephanie Verdoia, who averaged 0.36 assists per game over 80 career games.
