SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Seattle U men's soccer forward Alex Notzka has been named the West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording his second hat trick of the season.
“We’re excited for Alex to earn his second WCC Offensive Player of the Week award,” Head Coach Nate Daligcon said. “He has taken a big step forward in his development this season and has been a difference maker in the attack for us.”
The Seattle native opened the week by assisting on teammate Leo Flores’ hat trick in the Redhawks’ 3-3 draw at Pacific on Wednesday. Notzka followed that performance with three goals of his own—including the game-winner—in Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Saint Mary’s.
“This is a well-deserved honor,” Daligcon added. “We’re excited to see him continue to push his game forward.”
Notzka’s standout week has propelled him to the top of the conference leaderboard and among the nation’s statistical leaders. He currently leads the WCC in both goals and points while ranking third and fourth nationally, respectively, in those categories.
With the recognition, Notzka earns his second WCC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
Notzka and the Redhawks will have an extended break before returning to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when they take on crosstown rival Washington in the Fewing Cup.
