SEASIDE, Calif. - The Seattle University men's golf team concluded its fall season this week, competing in the Saint Mary's Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course.
The Redhawks performed admirably in a field full with strong competitors and nationally ranked teams, including Santa Clara and Washington. Seattle U had its second-best team performance against par this season, shooting +2 over and coming in ninth of 18 teams.
Freshman Elliot Ro had an excellent tournament, finishing above five nationally ranked golfers and securing a top 20 finish by shooting -3 under, 213. Ro finished in 17th place, a product of a remarkably consistent tournament in which he carded -2 under, 70 in the first two rounds.
The tournament served as a return to form for senior Kevin Li, who earned his first top 25 finish of the season, securing an under-par finish with -1 under, 215. Li tied his season-best round of -3 under, 69 on the first day, complete with five birdies. With his performance this tournament, he moves into first place on the record books for most career par or better rounds with 57, sharing the title at the moment with 2023 graduate Nathan Cogswell.
Jacob Kang and Cade McVicker also finished in the top 50, placing tied for 42nd. The pair carded +3 over, 219 each, with McVicker shooting an impressive -3 under, 69 in the first round.
Finally, Burly Hildreth came in 98th place with +17 over, 233, with a best round of +2 over, 74.
The team will take a few months off before resuming play February 11-13, when they travel to the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i to compete in the Burns Intercollegiate hosted by University of Hawaii.
