Danish's PR Paces Redhawks at Mike Johnson Classic

Sophomore Mira Danish raced a personal best time in her first 6k of the young season as Seattle University men’s and women’s cross country completed its second competition at Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, Ore.

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Sophomore Mira Danish raced a personal best time in her first 6k of the young season as Seattle University men’s and women’s cross country completed its second competition at Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, Ore., Saturday morning. The Redhawks had six competitors in the men’s 8k and seven in the women’s 6k at the Mike Johnson Classic, hosted by Western Oregon University.

Danish was Seattle U’s top finisher in the women’s race, placing 34th overall in a time of 22:07.3. She trimmed more than 23 seconds off her previous best 6k time, set at the Bronco Invitational on Oct. 18, 2025. A trio of Redhawk freshmen were close behind in their first collegiate 6k race. Cate Bishop placed 50th in 22:31.4, Johnny Eggert placed 57th in 22:45.1 and Gia Petrini placed 59th in 22:47.3.

Rounding out the Redhawk women were freshman Sydney Brantley (23:31.6), senior Kristina Shkalenkova (24:43.2) and senior Sierra Swart (26:43.8). As a team, Seattle U finished 10th of 13 total squads.

For the men it was a trio of freshman taking the top three spots for the Redhawks. Jacob Crisman was Seattle U’s top finisher, placing 22nd overall in 25:41.0 in his first collegiate 8k. Joshua Price placed 30th in 25:48.0 and Connor Ward finished 36th in 26:03.2. Sophomore Riley Tricas was 54th in 26:33.4, junior Alexzander Osorio was 68th in 27:15.3 and senior Diego Razo-Castaneda was 84th in 27:58.0. Seattle U placed 7th of 12 in the overall team standings.

The Redhawks will be back in action, and back in Oregon, on Saturday, October. 3, competing at the Charles Bowles Invitational at McCulloch Stadium and Bush Park in Salem, Ore. The men’s 8k will kick off the day at 9:30 a.m., followed by the women’s 5k at 10:20 a.m.
