SERIES HISTORY
Saturday’s matchup marks the fourth all-time meeting between Seattle U and Santa Clara, with the Redhawks holding a 2-1-0 advantage in the series. The teams first met in 2015, when SU earned a 1-0 win in California. The sides met again last season as conference foes, with Santa Clara handing the Redhawks their first loss in the series, 1-0.
LAST TIME OUT
The Redhawks saw their four-match unbeaten streak snapped Wednesday with a 1-3 loss at Oregon State. Seattle U fell behind by a goal and a man early and were unable to climb out of the hole against its Northwest rivals. Alex Notzka scored the Redhawks’ lone goal of the match.
REDHAWKS PICKED 5th IN PRESEASON POLL
Seattle U was picked fifth in the West Coast Conference Preseason Poll, which was based on the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.
NOTZKA LEADING WCC IN GOALS
Alex Notzka netted his sixth goal of the season in Wednesday’s loss, moving him into a tie with San Francisco’s David Raphael for the conference lead. The junior entered the season with just two career goals.
SAYE BLEGAY WITH THE ASSIST
Joining Notzka among the conference leaders is Allen Saye Blegay, who is tied for the conference lead with three assists. The sophomore entered the season without an assist in his career but did score once last season.
IN SAFE HANDS WITH KAPCIAK
Despite starting just four matches this season, Aleksander Kapciak has made his mark between the posts. He ranks second in the WCC in save percentage at .829 and fourth in the conference with 29 saves.
FIRST COLLEGIATE GOAL FOR TEUBER
Bowen Teuber scored the first goal of his career in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Lindenwood. The junior found the back of the net in just his eighth career appearance.
