PULLMAN, WA - Seattle U women's soccer dropped their road clash with Washington State, 1-2, Wednesday night in Pullman.
After giving up the opening goal in the first minute of the match, the Redhawks settled in and turned the tides in the first half.
It appeared they netted the equalizer in the 13th minute, but a VAR check determined the play was offsides. 15 minutes later Leila Leano would fire one into the back of the net to send the game into a tie at the break.
Despite continuing to pepper the Cougar defense and keeper with shots in the second half, it would be the hosts that found the game-winner in the 66th minute.
The Redhawks outshot the Cougars 22-8, including a 14-2 separation in shots on goal.
Seattle U will drop to 5-3-2 on the season and to 1-3-1 in matches played away from Championship Field. They will return to their home pitch this Saturday, Sep. 19 when they host Cal Poly. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Mustangs is scheduled for 6:00pm PT.
