SEATTLE - The Seattle University men's golf team completed their second tournament of the season this week, the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., hosted by Colorado State.

Jacob Kang was the Redhawks' top finisher, coming in 20th place with +5 over, 215 with a best round of +1 over, 71 in both the first and third rounds. Kang's finish is an improvement over last week, where he came in 27th at the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League Tournament in Japan.

Cade McVicker had a strong collegiate debut, being the second-best performer for Seattle U. He placed 32nd with +8 over, 218. After a rough second round where he carded +6 over, 76 the freshman was able to step up his game and shoot a career-best round of even par, 70, jumping 23 ranks in the standings from where he began the round. Across the tournament, the freshman recorded 11 birdies as well as an eagle in the third round. 

In his second tournament of his career, Elliot Ro had a strong first two rounds, recording +1 over, 71 and +2 over, 72 respectively, before unfortunately falling to 59th place with a final score of +12 over, 122. 

In his first competition of the season, senior Will Koch finished competition with +19 over, 129 to place 86th, and fellow senior Kevin Li finished 90th with +25 over, 135. 

"It was great to see some of our young guys show what they’re capable of this week," said assistant coach Robby Hipp. "Elliot Ro played really solid golf outside of a tough opening nine in the final round, and Cade McVicker finished strong in his first start as a Redhawk. Jacob Kang put together another quality performance for us as well.

"Fort Collins Country Club was a great test and gave us a good look at where we are early in the season."
