SEATTLE – Seattle University cross country kicks off the 2026 season on Friday, Sept. 11 at the Ash Creek Collegiate, hosted by Western Oregon University at Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, Ore. The rare evening event begins with the men’s 6k at 5 p.m., followed by the women’s 5k at 5:45 p.m.
Thirteen total Redhawks will be competing on Friday night. The women’s team will consist of freshmen Cate Bishop, Sydney Brantley, Johnny Eggert and Gia Petrini, all competing in their first collegiate race, along with sophomore Mira Danish and junior Kristina Shkalenkova. The men’s team will consist of freshmen Jacob Crisman, Joshua Prince and Connor Ward, sophomores Casey Miller and Riley Tricas and juniors Alexzander Osorio and Diego Razo-Castaneda.
“We’ve got a really strong crew that’s competing this weekend,” said Acting Head Coach Alex Jensen. “We’re excited that they get the opportunity to get the ball rolling for us this season.”
The Ash Creek Collegiate is the first of five regular-season competitions for the Redhawks, including the first of four meets in the state of Oregon. Including Seattle U, 12 universities will be represented in both the men’s 6k and women’s 5k.
