SEATTLE — Seattle University women's soccer rallied from an early deficit twice before Leila Leano's late goal lifted the Redhawks to a 3-2 victory over Gonzaga on Sunday at Championship Field.

Gonzaga struck first in the 10th minute when Kalia Franklin headed the Bulldogs in front off an assist from Amelia Severn. Seattle U answered just before halftime, with U'i Kaaihue scoring her fourth goal of the season in the 45th minute to send the teams into the break tied, 1-1.

The Redhawks took their first lead just 4:14 into the second half. Miyah Suster scored her first goal of the season in the 50th minute, finishing off an assist from Kaaihue to make it 2-1.

Gonzaga responded in the 61st minute when Sienna Jenson scored her first goal of the season, with Shila Rasoul and Samantha Snorsky providing the assists.

With the match level at 2-2, Seattle U found the decisive breakthrough late. Leano scored her first goal of the season in the 87th minute, converting a pass from Sydney Grundland Lanuza to put the Redhawks ahead for good.

Goalkeeper Rachael Remnet made two saves and earned the victory, improving to 3-0-1 on the season. Seattle U finished with 13 shots, including four on target, while Gonzaga recorded 14 shots and four shots on goal. The Redhawks also held a 56-44 advantage in possession.

Seattle U's attack was led by Kaaihue, who finished with six shots, one goal and one assist. Suster and Leano each added a goal, while Grundland Lanuza, who played all 90 minutes, recorded an assist on the game-winner.

The victory moves Seattle U to 3-1-2 on the season, while Gonzaga falls to 2-3-1. Next up for the Redhawks will be a crosstrown clash with Washington on Friday, Sep. 4.
