24 Freshmen Added to Cross Country and Track and Field Rosters

SEATTLE – Seattle University cross country and track and field programs welcome 24 new Redhawks in 2026-27, 17 of which will be making their collegiate debuts during the fall cross country season.

“We have a great incoming class, and we're excited to see them grow and develop throughout this year and over the course of their entire college careers," said Acting Head Coach Alex Jensen. "They bring a lot of talent, energy and potential to our program, and we look forward to seeing the impact they make as they continue to develop as both athletes and individuals.”

MEN

Mateo Cafaro of Danville, Calif., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in biology. In high school, he was the NCS Tri-Valley 3,200m champion.

Jacob Crisman of Loveland, Colo., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in biochemistry. In high school, he was the Individual Regional Champion in cross country in 2025, and was a member of his school's Conference Championship Team from 2023-25. 

Maddox Fox of Seattle will be competing in track and field, and will be majoring in nursing. In high school, he was named Cross Country Incomer of the Year in 2022.

Nathaniel Laursen of Issaquah, Wash., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in environmental studies. In high school, he was an eight-season varsity athlete, a member of his school's state winning cross country team, and a five-time state qualifier, including three individual qualifications.

Jovanny Lieb of Spokane, Wash., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in biology. In high school, he achieved a third place finish in the 4x800m 2025 Nike Outdoor National Championship, and placed eighth in the 2026 Emerging Elite 5000m. He was also named to the 2026 Brooks West Regional Team.

Trevor Odom of University Place, Wash., will be competing in track and field, and will be majoring in marine biology. In high school, he was named varsity captain of his school's cross country team and was named second team All-League twice. 

Joshua Prince of Portland, Ore., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in biology. In high school, he competed in the Cross Country Nationals Qualifier in 2025, and finished in seventh place twice at the Oregon Track and Field State Championship.

Preston Schmidt of Medford, Ore., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in mechanical engineering. In high school, he was the Oregon State champion in the 1,500m and runner-up in the 3k.

Dylan Shugg of South Pasadena, Calif., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in accounting. In high school, he was one of the top three fastest runners in school history and was a 2024 Cross Country Section D3 Finalist. 

Landon Stallings of Burlington, Wash., will be competing in track and field, and will be majoring in kinesiology. In high school, he was named first team All-NWC for the 2026 track and field season. In the 4x400 state track competition, he placed fifth in 2025 and sixth in 2026.

Connor Ward of Mercer Island, Wash., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in philosophy. He helped lead his high school team to the Washington State 3A team title in cross country.

WOMEN

Aavi Bass of Seattle, will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in social work. In high school, Bass was named her school's Cross Country MVP in 2025, and Track MVP in 2026.

Emma Bellomy of Boise, Idaho, will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in English. In high school, she qualified for cross country state championships all four years, including a first place team finish in 2023, and second place finishes in 2024 and 2025. She was also a scoring runner on the third place team at the 2024 Nike Cross Regionals Northwest Championships.

Cate Bishop of Santa Barbara, Calif., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in nursing. In high school, she posted the third-best three-mile time in school history. She was named her school's Cross Country MVP in 2024 and 2025, as well as being named Track MVP in 2025.

Sydney Brantley of Loveland, Colo., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in kinesiology. In high school, she was a three-time qualifier for state in track, three times for 4x800m, and once for the 800m.

Johnny Eggert of Bellingham, Wash., will be competing in track and field, and will be majoring in biochemistry. In high school, she was a member of her school's Cross Country State Championship team in 2023 and 2025, as well as the NXR Championship team in 2025.

Adelaide Nelson of Portland, Ore., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in chemistry.

Hannah Okon of Clackamas, Ore., will be competing in track and field, and will be majoring in diagnostic ultrasound. 

Gia Petrini of Missoula, Mont., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in nursing.

Abigail Replogle of Schwenksville, Penn., will be competing in track and field, and will be majoring in chemistry. 

Frances Staulcup of Seattle will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in environmental studies. 

Rio Tabion of Sammamish, Wash., will be competing in both cross country and track and field.

Lyla Taylor of Brush Prairie, Wash., will be competing in both cross country and track and field, and will be majoring in nursing. In high school, she was named First Team All-League all four years, and was a cross country District Champion in 2026, as well as being a member of the 2024 District Champion team. She placed 10th in the State in the 3200m in 2024.

Ella Weyhrauch of Monroe, Wash., will be competing in track and field, and will be majoring in psychology.
