SEATTLE – Seattle University Vice President for Athletics Shaney Fink has announced the addition of two key members to the Athletics Development team with the hiring of Tommy Sletten as Assistant Athletic Director, Development and Dani Carbary as Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement, further strengthening the department's focus on revenue generation, philanthropic growth and alumni engagement.
"Generating new resources and building lasting relationships are essential to the continued growth of Seattle University Athletics," said Fink. "Tommy and Dani each bring exceptional relationship-building skills and complementary expertise that will help us grow philanthropic support, strengthen alumni connections and create new opportunities for our community to invest in the success of our student athletes. We're thrilled to welcome both of them to the Redhawk family."
Sletten joins Seattle University after serving as Assistant Director of Major Gifts for the Red Raider Club at Texas Tech University. During his time in Lubbock, he managed a portfolio of approximately 120 major gift prospects and helped raise nearly $3 million in philanthropic support, including securing a $1 million gift from a student athlete alum – one of the five largest gifts from a student athlete alum in Texas Tech history. He also founded the Texas Tech Volleyball Booster Club to expand donor engagement.
Prior to Texas Tech, Sletten served as Graduate Assistant for Stewardship and Donor Engagement with the University of Washington's Tyee Club, where he supported annual and major gift fundraising initiatives while earning his Master of Education in Intercollegiate Athletics Leadership. A graduate of Seattle University’s School of Law, Sletten also served as a manager for the Redhawk women's basketball program during his time as a student.
As Athletics Director of Development, Sletten will lead major gift fundraising efforts, cultivate relationships with alumni and donors, identify new philanthropic opportunities and help advance the department's fundraising priorities in support of Seattle University student athletes.
