SEATTLE - Seattle University Athletics has announced the addition of Kevin Bravo and Jose Magaway to the Health and Performance staff ahead of the 2026-27 year. Bravo comes on board as an Associate Director of Sports Medicine and will serve as the Athletic Trainer for men’s basketball and women’s golf. Magaway will serve as the Athletic Trainer for softball and men’s and women’s cross country and track & field.

Kevin and Jose will be tremendous additions to our culture, and we’re excited for the impact they’ll have on our department.”
Bravo arrives at Seattle U after spending two-and-a-half seasons as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Salt Lake City Stars, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz. During his tenure, the Stars' medical staff earned G-League West Coast Athletic Training Staff of the Year honors in both 2023-24 and 2024-25. In that role, Bravo also supported the Utah Jazz parent team during pre-season workouts and training camp, and participated in the NBA and G-League Combine, Salt Lake City Summer League and NBA Summer League.
Bravo also recently served as Head Athletic Trainer for the Nigerian Basketball Federation’s Women’s National Team, manning medical care for a 15-member roster across multiple international venues and coordinating injury prevention sessions and player workload management.
He also managed medical care for a 32-member roster in the San Francisco Giants' Dominican Summer League program, working primarily with Spanish-speaking athletes and coordinating with physicians across international time zones and completed a summer internship with the Chicago Bears in 2022.
Bravo his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University, and complete his Master of Science in Sports Administration at Eastern Illinois University. He holds certifications in Spinal Manipulation (SMT 1 & 2), Dry Needling (SFDN-1), Blood Flow Restriction through Owens Recovery Systems, and is a NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist.
Magaway joins the Seattle U staff after spending two years as an Athletic Training Graduate Assistant at Lamar University. During his time with the Cardinals, he worked with the football, women’s golf, basketball and soccer programs, taking on primary coverage responsibilities for women’s basketball throughout their full non-conference schedule and women’s soccer through the their 2026 spring season. He also supervised undergraduate student workers and MSAT students, administered concussion testing and gathered objective data for long-term injuries through handheld dynamometer and biofeedback assessments.
Prior to Lamar, Magaway spent a year at the United States Naval Academy in Maryland as an Athletic Training Fellow, working across football, swimming and diving, heavyweight crew and women’s volleyball. There, he developed comprehensive rehabilitation plans for both short and long term injuries, supported return-to-run progressions, and assisted in planning and hosting the Patriot League Championship Swim & Dive meet.
Magaway spent the summer of 2022 as an Athletic Training Intern with the New England Patriots before returning to Ohio State, where he completed his undergraduate education while serving as an Athletic Training Student with the football and men's tennis programs. He holds BOC certification, a High-Velocity Low-Amplitude Thrust (HVLAT) Spine Certification, and Texas state licensure, and was awarded the PFATS Ethnic Minority Scholarship in 2022.
