PHILADELPHIA – Seattle U baseball's Luke Alwood was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 10th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday. The right-handed pitcher was the 24th pick of the round and the 307th overall selection.

"I am so very proud of Luke," Head Coach Donny Harrel said. "He worked his tail off to put himself in this position and accomplish his dream of becoming a professional baseball player."

A senior from Kihei, Hawaiʻi, Alwood concluded his Redhawk career this season after recording six wins, two saves, and 138 strikeouts over four years. His 138 career strikeouts rank 10th in program history.

"It shows that you can accomplish your goals no matter where you play," Harrel added. "This is a great pick by the Cubs because his best years are still ahead of him."

Alwood becomes the 14th Redhawk selected in the MLB Draft since the program was reinstated before the 2010 season and the 19th player in program history to be drafted, dating back to 1965.

He joins former teammate Nestor German (2020–23), who was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2023 MLB Draft, as the second Redhawk to be drafted in the past five years.
