SEATTLE - Former player turned coach Devon Lewis will officially join Seattle University women’s basketball in an assistant coach role under first year head coach John Bonner, as announced by the program.
"Devon has a really bright future in this profession. She brings a lot of passion, energy and purpose to our staff," head coach Bonner shared. "She's familiar with our system and will be an invaluable resource for our students both on and off the court. She will work with our guards and be at the forefront of our player development.
Lewis takes her game to the coaching realm following a five year collegiate career between 2019-2025. She began her playing career at Sierra College, where she led the program to a CCCAA state championship in the 2021-22 season. The Wolverines were named Big 8 Co-Champions that same year. In both 2019 and 2022, Lewis was named to the All-Conference first team.
Following a pair of seasons at Sierra College, Lewis transferred to Cal Poly Humboldt, where she competed for the 2022-23 season. She appeared in 26 games and started in 24, where she logged 168 points, 164 rebounds, 49 steals, and 16 blocks, averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.
Lewis completed her collegiate playing career at CSU Dominguez Hills, where she was part of the team’s historic national runner up finish at the NCAA DII tournament. She appeared in 36 games for the Toros and started 16. She recorded 113 points, 105 rebounds, 118 assists, 52 steals and six blocks in her final season. Lewis shared in a part of Toros history, helping the program to its first ever national championship appearance following a regular season title, conference tournament championship, and NCAA regional title.
Lewis graduated from CSUDH with a degree in TV, Media and Film after completing her bachelor’s degree at Sierra College.
