SEATTLE — Seattle University’s men’s and women’s swimming programs have accepted invitations to join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation beginning in the 2026–27 season, the MPSF announced Wednesday.
“We are very excited and grateful to be joining the MPSF for the 2026–27 school year,” head coach Joe Dykstra said. “They have been running great swimming championships for years, and we look forward to being part of what will be one of the largest and most competitive Division I championship meets in the country next winter. It has been a roller coaster of conference realignment among swim programs in the western part of the country the past couple of years, but we, along with all other WCC swim teams, are thrilled to be part of the MPSF for the coming season.”
Seattle U is one of six athletic departments accepting invitations to the MPSF ahead of the upcoming academic year, joining Cal State Bakersfield, Denver, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego. The 17th MPSF Championship, Feb. 17–20, will feature a record 24 teams — 16 on the women’s side and eight on the men’s. Fellow West Coast Conference member Saint Mary’s announced in September that it is joining the MPSF for the upcoming season.
The move marks a return to the MPSF for both programs: the men competed in the conference from 2011–13, while the women swam in the MPSF in 2011 and 2012.
