SAN DIEGO - Seattle University softball (19-30, 5-11 WCC) trailed early before battling back and holding San Diego (19-30, 5-11 WCC) scoreless through five straight frames, but the Redhawks could not draw in the game tying run to extend the contest, falling 7-6 to the Toreros inside Reggie Smith Softball Complex on Thursday evening.

The Toreros struck first, scoring all seven of their runs in the bottom of the first on six hits, including five that went for extra bases. The Redhawks looked to craft their comeback in the top of the second, scoring a pair of runners on the 2 RBI double from Jones.
The Redhawks got two runners on with a walk and a single before the Toreros claimed their first out in the top of the second. Jones doubled to left center to score both Spadafora and sophomore Abbie Fales. After Fales was initially ruled out at home, the Redhawks won the challenge, cutting into the early deficit. Bostedt capped the second with her first strikeout.
Neither team scored through the third and fourth innings, as Bostedt led back-to-back 1-2-3 innings. Zepeda and Kissling led off the fifth with back-to-back singles. Bostedt quickly turned the fifth and sixth innings to keep the Toreros from building their lead back. Morris led off the top of the seventh with a base hit before Ross reached on an error. Morris got to third to get runners on the corners before senior Ava Sin grounded out to score Morris to pull within a run.
