SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Seattle University women’s rowing highlighted its first conference competition with a pair of All-West Coast Conference team honors in seniors Faith Dickey and Sophie Schmidt. The Redhawks raced to a third place finish in their 2V8+ final, securing eight points in their first ever conference championship.

Seattle U’s second varsity eight and varsity eight boats both saw improvements in their finals times after Friday’s prelim heats. The Redhawks raced to a third place finish in Saturday’s petite 2V8+ final, shaving off a second from Friday to best Creighton by 13 seconds. SU’s 2V8+ ended the weekend clocking a 7:35.028 on Saturday.

The Redhawks dropped three seconds off its V8+ boat in Saturday’s petite final, clocking a 7:43.429 to claim fourth. SU’s V4+ took fourth behind a 9:20.557.

Schmidt and Dickey were staple pieces in Seattle U’s varsity eight boat all season long, appearing in each of the V8’s regatta appearances this season. The pair also earned spots on the WCC’s all-academic team, with Schmidt earning a spot on the 25 woman first team. Dickey took home an honorable mention from the WCC.

The duo are the first to be recognized for conference postseason awards in program history, while also leading the program to a series a firsts over the course of the weekend.
