SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior Ava Sin and junior Avari Morris each earned a spot on the 13 member All-West Coast Conference Softball All-Academic first team, while six Redhawks took home an honorable mention in recognition of their academic and athletic success this season, as announced by the league this afternoon.
In addition to Sin and Morris, seniors Taylor Fitch and Brooklyn Jones, juniors Sophia Kissling, Karen Spadafora and Berkley Vance, and sophomore Abbie Fales each were recognized by the league as honorable mentions.
Sin led the team with her program record tying 20 doubles, while logging a series of collegiate season career bests. The designated hitter ranked top-15 or better in the league in batting average, runs scored, home runs, doubles and hits. Sin took home an All-WCC second team honor in part of SU’s first WCC postseason awards.
Morris led the team and ranked top-five in the conference in hits, tying third all-time in program history for hits in a single season with 73. She went back-to-back seasons batting above .400, ranking top-10 in program history in single season batting average. The outfielder/pitcher finished the season as part of the All-WCC first team.
Fitch, Jones, Kissling, Spadafora, Vance and Fales were all crucial pieces to Seattle U’s top-three ranking offense all season long, contributing hits, runs and RBIs that helped rank the Redhawks top-two in the WCC. Fitch, Spadafora and Vance all appeared in the WCC’s postseason awards after earning preseason recognition by the league at the start of the season.
