SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s rowing heads to Northern California for its debut West Coast Conference Championships from May 15-16. The Redhawks face the full ten member field on Lake Natoma with races set for Friday and Saturday.

The Redhawks travel their V8+, 2V8+ and V4+ to the Sacramento area where they will face Santa Clara, Oregon State, San Diego, Portland, Creighton, Sacramento State, Gonzaga, Washington State and Saint Mary’s. SU is one of six full time members, Santa Clara, San Diego, Portland, Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s, while the remaining schools hold affiliate conference status.

Two days of racing lie in store for Seattle U, with Friday’s semifinal heats determining the makeup of Saturday’s petite and grand finals.  Second varsity four takes to the water first on Friday morning at 8:30 am followed by varsity four at 9:00 am. The second varsity eight and varsity eight boats take to the water at 9:30 am and 10:00 am respectively.

Saturday opens with the petite final second varsity four followed by its respective grand final at 8:00 am. The other boats will follow in similar fashion, with the grand final following its petite final. Varsity eight’s grand final will be the final race of the weekend, taking to the water at 9:45 am on Saturday.

All action between Friday and Saturday will be on ESPN+ and heats will be available on the WCC’s rowing championship site.

Seattle U will race Sacramento State, Saint Mary’s, Creighton, San Diego and Washington State for the first time this season. The Redhawks spent multiple weekends with Portland and Santa Clara this year, while also squaring off with defending WCC champion Oregon State at the Oregon State Invite. Most recently, SU faced Gonzaga at the Windermere Cup.

The Redhawks have shown steady improvement over the course of the season, building momentum after facing their new conference mates. They ready for their first conference championship since Seattle U made its transition to the WCC last July.
