LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Junior Avari Morris was honored as a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Mountain Region, earning Seattle University softball’s ninth NFCA all-region award in program history while taking home her second straight nod from the association in as many seasons, as released by the NFCA this morning.
Her recognition extended Seattle U to eight straight seasons, excluding the missed 2020 season, with NFCA all-region honorees. Morris became the seventh Redhawk to be named to a second team while also earning back-to-back nods for the first time since 2022 and 2023, when Olivia Viggiano took home a pair of all-region third team awards.
Morris was a foundational piece of the Redhawk offense all season long, leading off the order the majority of the year, while accounting for new career highs in nearly every major category. The dual threat saw a lot of work out in left field, for which she was recognized by the NFCA, while maintaining success inside the circle.
The left fielder achieved career highs in hits (73), runs scored (48), doubles (14), triples (3), home runs (2), RBI (24) and posted her second highest batting average since debuting as a hitter in her sophomore season. Morris now claims two top-10 single season batting averages in program history, tallying back-to-back seasons batting over .400.
Primarily spending time in the outfield, Morris also logged a new career high 84 putouts this year.
Morris comes off a All-WCC first team recognition after finishing as one of the league’s top performers in Seattle U’s first season in the conference. She was one of three Redhawks to earn a weekly award this season, taking home a player of the week recognition in early March. This is Morris' second NFCA all-region award after being named all-region third team a season ago.
