SEATTLE - Seattle University volleyball signed five to the class of 2030, welcoming Janae Demant, Linnaea Moore, Vai Unga, Orinayo Olukanmi and Elaina Duong to First Hill ahead of the upcoming 2026 season. The Redhawks also signed transfer Lexi Jones to the program this fall.
Olukanmi joined in the early signing period to become the first member of the class of 2030. The 6’1 opposite/outside hitter hails from Palmdale, California and makes the trip to Seattle upon graduation from Quartz Hill HS. Olukanmi was a three year varsity starter, capturing program MVP honors in back-to-back years as a sophomore and junior, while also taking home player of the year recognition in her junior campaign. As a freshman she was tabbed junior varsity’s MVP.
Olukanmi’s success extended into the classroom, capturing spots on the principal’s and honor roll lists all four years. She most recently played club volleyball with Legacy, where she helped lead the team to podium finishes at AAU and Club Coastal Combine in 2024.
In addition to Olukanmi, two more future Redhawks will travel from out of state, with Moore arriving from California and Unga from Nevada.
Moore, a Cupertino, California native, will join the program upon graduation from Homestead HS. The 6’2 opposite was a three time first team all league athlete, earning the honor the last three straight seasons. A four year varsity athlete, Moore was tabbed sophomore and junior of the year at Homestead, while also achieving scholar athlete honors all four years.
Moore played club most recently with MVVC 13-18, where she helped guide her team to a runner up finish at the Sierra National Qualifier in 2025 and first place finish at the Las Vegas Classic in 2024.
Unga, a Las Vegas native, rounds out the trio of freshmen from out of state. The 5’10 outside hitter joins the program by way of Arbor View HS, where she competed all four years. Unga ended her final season as the 2025 league player of the year, while capping off her tenure surpassing 1,000 career kills.
Unga also played club volleyball with Vegas United, where she helped lead the team to a national bronze medal. She recently capped off her career with a USAV 18s national championship.
Two Washington natives will keep their game in state, with Duong and Demant joining from nearby University Place and Spokane respectively.
Duong, a 5’6 DS/L, arrives at First Hill upon graduating from Curtis HS. This past season she led the program to a 2025 state championship, where she earned 2025 Tacoma Pierce Athletic Commission volleyball fall athlete of the year. In back to back seasons, Duong earned 4A all-state tournament team, first team all-state and TNT first team all-area recognition. As a sophomore and senior, she was honored with WIAA state sportsmanship honor. Duong also captured SPSL defensive MVP honors as a junior.
Duong graduates have surpassed 1,000 career digs. She most recently played club volleyball with Washington Volleyball Academy, where she led her team to a runner-up finish at the USAV girls junior national championship in 2024. She was elected to that all-tournament team that same year.
Rounding out the freshmen is Demant, who will graduate from Mead HS. This past season, Demant guided Mead to a fourth place finish in the district standings. Demant was also a key piece for the Panthers’ run to the 2023 WIAA 3A state championship her sophomore season after securing the District 8 3A championship in 2023. Her efforts earned her two honorable mentions on both the all-region and all-conference teams. The 5’10 DS/L played club with CPA 18 Benson.
In addition to the team’s three winter transfers, Hailey McEllrath, Bella Jones and Clara Garcia, the Redhawks signed an additional transfer in Lexi Jones. Journeying from neighboring Canada, 6’2 middle spent her freshman collegiate season at Montana State - Northern, where she earned Frontier Conference defensive player of the week recognition, first team all-conference and freshman of the year. The Calgary, Alberta native guided MSU-Northern to a three seed at the Frontier Conference tournament and a semi-finals appearance.
Jones graduated from All Saints HS where she played club with Canuck and Dinos during her tenure. With her club team, Jones earned a pair of championships at the Alberta Provincial, a gold medal at the Canada Cup and a fourth place finish at the Canadian National championships twice.
