STOCKTON, Calif. - Seattle University softball (17-19, 3-0 WCC) captured its third straight conference victory in a 6-1 win over Pacific (12-26, 0-6 WCC) to secure the series sweep of the Tigers at Bill Simoni Field on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Abbie Fales led the offensive charge with three hits in three at bats, including two doubles. Fales scored one run while securing two putouts from right field. Matching Fales with three hits was junior Avari Morris, who picked up an RBI and scored a run.

Junior Mikee Morris was the third Redhawk with multiple hits on the afternoon, posting two hits in three at bats. She led the team with two runs scored. Senior Ava Sin picked up three more RBI on the weekend with a home run in the high scoring second inning. She recorded nine RBI across the three games.

Leading from the circle and earning the start was freshman Kaia Galaviz. Galaviz tossed 4.0 innings of the contest and faced 16 batters. She led the pitching core with two strikeouts on the day. Sophomore Maya Mesa saw 2.0 innings of work. Mesa faced 10 batters and struck out one. Junior Berkley Vance pitched the final 1.0 inning and faced three batters while striking out one.

Aiding the defense was graduate Jay Ross, who secured five putouts from first base. Junior Karen Spadafora, junior Sophia Kissling and senior Brooklyn Jones each grabbed four putouts on the day. Mikee Morris led the team with four assists from short.

The Redhawks recorded 11 hits for their second straight game with 10 or more hits. It is the 18th time this season where the Redhawks have eclipsed 10 or more hits in a game.

Similar to yesterday afternoon, the Tigers struck first in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on a walk and a base hit. Seattle U took over in the top of the second as Mikee Morris responded with a base hit to lead off the inning. Morris stole second to advance into scoring position as Fales brought her in for the game tying run with an RBI double to right field.

Facing one out, Kissling moved Fales to third with a base hit, while Avari Morris picked up her second hit of the day to score Fales. With two runners on and one out, Sin sent out her homer to center field to score both Morris and Kissling, giving the Redhawks the 5-1 advantage in the second. Galaviz kept the Tigers from responding, picking up a strikeout in the bottom of the second.

Mikee Morris led off the third inning, singling to the circle. Morris recorded her second stolen base before Fales advanced her to third with a base hit. Facing one out, Jones grounded out to first to allow Morris to score to put SU up 6-1 in the third. The Redhawk outfield helped keep the Tigers from responding in the bottom of the third.

SU kept Pacific scoreless through the final four frames, keeping five Tigers stranded over the last four frames. Vance secured the sweep from the circle, tossing her strikeout to end the game 6-1 in favor of the Redhawks.

Seattle U returns to action next week to host Saint Mary’s for its first WCC home series. The Redhawks will host the Gaels for their Alumni Weekend, with an alumni tailgate slated for Saturday’s contest at 1 PM.
