SEATTLESeattle University men’s basketball has announced the signing of Seattle native Mason Williams to the roster for the 2026-27 season.

“We’re thrilled to bring Mason home to Seattle,” said head coach Chris Victor. “Our relationship goes back to his days with Seattle Rotary and O’Dea High School. He’s an unselfish, versatile guard with great size, has the ability to score at all three levels and has an elite work ethic. Adding a local talent who knows what this city and this program represent is especially meaningful for us.”

Williams, a 6-foot-5 guard, returns to his hometown after spending the 2025-26 season at Iowa State, where he earned Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition during the fall semester before ultimately redshirting the season due to injury.

Prior to Iowa State, Williams played two seasons at Eastern Washington, highlighted by a breakout 2024-25 campaign. He started 22 of 27 games and averaged a career-best 13.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, ranking ninth in the Big Sky Conference in scoring. Williams also finished second in the league in free-throw percentage at 83.7 percent.

He scored a career-high 35 points against Idaho State and posted seven games with 20 or more points, including 29 against Sacramento State and 28 versus Montana. Williams finished second on the team in total points (374) and assists (65), while scoring in double figures in 17 contests.

As a freshman in 2023-24, Williams appeared in 17 games and averaged 3.8 points per game. He led the Eagles in three-point percentage (46.9 percent) and free-throw percentage (90.9 percent), showcasing early efficiency as a scorer.

Williams prepped at O'Dea High School, where he earned All-Metro Conference honors as a junior after averaging 15 points, five rebounds and five assists per game. He also competed on the AAU circuit with Seattle Rotary.

Williams’ family has prior ties to the Redhawk program as his uncle, current San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson, started his coaching career as an intern at Seattle U.
