STOCKTON, Calif. - Seattle University softball (15-19, 1-0 WCC) constructed its first victory in West Coast Conference play, defeating Pacific (12-24, 0-4 WCC) in a one run contest, 3-2, at Bill Simoni Field on Thursday evening to jump back into the win column.

Senior Taylor Fitch led the Redhawks with one hit and one run to extend her hitting streak to six straight games. Fitch now has 33 runs on the year. On the defensive end she picked up two putouts.

Freshman Audrey Borup drafted the game sealing RBI double as a pinch hitter. She matched junior Karen Spadafora with one RBI in the game. Senior Brooklyn Jones also recorded a double in the contest. Graduate Jay Ross rounded out the quartet of Redhawks with a hit on the evening, while junior Avari Morris and sophomore Abbie Fales each scored a run.

Ross led the defense with her new career high 10 putouts from first base. Junior Mikee Morris paced the team with three assists from short.

Earning the start in the circle and pitching 4.0 innings was Avari Morris. She faced 21 batters and struck out one. Freshman Kaia Galaviz closed the remaining 3.0 innings. Galaviz faced 12 batters and struck out three without conceding a run. The effort landed the freshman her fourth win of the year.

The first conference game between the two programs opened in a back and forth defensive standoff, with neither squad conceding a hit through the opening three frames. After Avari Morris was walked in the top of the fourth, she was able to come in for the first score of the night behind a single from Fitch and two base throwing error by the Tigers.

Senior Ava Sin also took a walk to first facing no outs before Spadafora scored Fitch from third with the RBI sac fly. The Tigers responded with two runs on three hits to level the contest once more after the fourth. Jones recorded her double in the fifth while Galaviz picked up her first strikeout to keep it 2-all heading into the sixth.

Pacific got one runner in scoring position in the bottom of the sixth facing two outs before a ground out to short curbed the Tigers efforts to take the late lead. Ross opened the seventh with a single before advancing into scoring position on a passed ball. Spadafora moved Ross to third with a fly out to right field. The Redhawks got two more runners on in Fales and Jones on a walk and fielder’s choice respectively. At the bottom of the order, Borup entered as a pinch hitter and scored Fales from second with her RBI double to take back the lead for the Redhawks.

Fales collected the first out in the bottom of the second while Galaviz picked up a strikeout. Pacific sent up two more batters before Jones iced the contest 3-2 in favor of SU with a pop up to second. The win snapped the Redhawks nine road game losing skid and vaulted them to their first ever WCC victory since becoming a member in July of 2025.

Seattle U returns to action tomorrow afternoon for game two at Bill Simoni Field with first pitch slated for 4 PM.
