Knowles Named Player of the WeekKnowles Named Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Payton Knowles has been named the Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. He becomes the first first field player and third Redhawk overall to be named to the weekly award.

“Knowles had a monster series," Head Coach Donny Harrell said. "It didn’t matter if they threw right or left-handed pitchers."

Knowles had a series to remember as the Redhawks took 2-of-3 from San Diego over the weekend. The junior went 9-for-13 with six extra base hits while driving in eight runs, all three categories led the team. He was also disciplined at the dish, drawing four walks and registering a .765 on base percentage for the weekend.

"He controlled the strike zone all weekend and did not miss his pitches," Harrell added. "Very happy for him, as he takes a lot of pride in his preparation process.”

Knowles joins Travis Farrell and Kale Hammer as Player of the Week selections this season.
