SEATTLE - Seattle University softball (14-19) officially opens West Coast Conference play with a three game road series against Pacific (12-23) starting Thursday, April 2 through Saturday, April 4 at Bill Simoni Field.
Junior Avari Morris leads the team with a .435 batting average through 115 at bats. The dual threat sits tied 88th in the nation in batting average this season. Morris ranks second in the WCC in hits with 50, a mark that also ranks tied 28th in the country. Her 12 doubles is tied for third in the WCC and tied 25th in the nation.
She is one of two Redhawks batting above .400 on the season, with senior Taylor Fitch sitting third in the WCC with a .422 batting average. Fitch sits top-five in the league in hits alongside Morris, with 43 recorded in 102 at bats. Her 12 home runs ranks third in the WCC and tied 38th in the nation. Fitch paves the way for the Redhawk offense with a conference leading 43 RBIs. She is tied 27th in the country in RBIs.
Fitch and Morris have combined for 61 runs this season, ranking third and fourth in the league respectively.
Senior Ava Sin and graduate Jay Ross both sit within the WCC’s top-20 in batting average, with Sin sitting at a .350 through 100 at bats and Ross is batting .333 through 108 at bats. Ross leads the pair with 36 hits this season, with Sin right behind with 35. Sin ranks sixth in the conference with 29 RBIs.
Guiding the team from the circle through 72.0 innings of work is junior Berkley Vance. Vance has tallied 40 strikeouts on the season while leading the Redhawks to five wins this year. Morris paces the team and ranks fifth in the WCC with 55 strikeouts through 58.0 innings. Freshman Kaia Galaviz ranks 11th in the WCC with 33 strikeouts in 14 appearances.
Aiding the defense is junior Karen Spadafora, who leads the team with 137 putouts this season. Ross ranks top-10 in the conference alongside Spadafora with 116 putouts. Fitch ranks tied 7th in the league 59 assists between third and short stop.
The Redhawks lead the conference and rank 49th in the country with a .326 batting average. Their 305 hits ranks second in the WCC and 32nd in the nation while pacing the conference with 204 runs, a total that is 76th in the country. The Redhawks also pace the league with 193 RBI, a mark that ranks tied 62nd in the nation.
Seattle U and Pacific meet for the second time this season and for the first time ever as conference opponents. The pair played a single neutral contest to start the season. The Redhawks and Tigers first met in 2016 and have played ten games together. Seattle U captured the three game sweep in 2025, while the Tigers got one back in early February of 2026. SU leads the all-time 6-4.
The Redhawks look to snap a nine game road losing streak, looking for their first win since their series sweep of Montana at home. Since the pair last met, the Tigers have captured 11 more wins, ending their non-conference with a 2-1 series victory over Montana. Pacific started conference play last weekend, falling to Saint Mary’s in three games in Moraga. The Tigers are 4-8 at home this season.
Following the weekend, the Redhawks make their return home for the first time in a month, hosting Saint Mary’s for Alumni Weekend. Saturday’s contest against the Gaels features an alumni tailgate one hour prior to first pitch.
