SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Seattle University’s John Christofilis and Brayden Maldonado have been named to the 2025-26 West Coast Conference Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team, announced by the league office Wednesday. The duo were among just 11 student athletes to make the team as Seattle U was one of three schools to have multiple honorees.

Christofilis completed his undergraduate degree in Communications and Media in June 2025 and has been pursuing a Certificate in Leadership Formation this academic year. On the court he has been a key spark off the bench, contributing 6.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. Some of his best games of the season have come down the stretch of the conference play where he’s scored in double digits in four of the last seven outings.

Maldonado is a Communications and Media major set to graduate this June. The Anchorage, Alaska, native was named to the All-WCC Second Team Tuesday following a stellar regular season that has included leading the Redhawks in scoring (14.9 ppg), free-throw percentage (90.2) and three-pointers (67).

The Redhawks finished the regular season at 19-12 overall and 8-10 in WCC play, good for a tie for fifth place. Earning the seventh seed in the 2026 Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Championship, Seattle U will open play on Friday, March 6 at 8:30 p.m. against the winner of Thursday’s opening round match-up between 10th-seed LMU and 11th-seed San Diego.
