SEATTLE - Seattle University softball (11-9) crosses town to visit No. 24 ranked Washington (15-6) in a battle for the city on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:30 PM inside Husky Softball Stadium. The game will be streamed on Big Ten+.

A trio of Redhawks rank top-10 in the West Coast Conference in batting average through the first month of play. Junior Avari Morris ranks fifth in the league and paces the team with a .437 batting average, recording 31 hits in 71 at bats. Senior Taylor Fitch has posted a .424 batting average in 59 at bats, tallying 25 hits on the season. Fellow senior Ava Sin holds a .418 batting average after 55 at bats, recording 23 hits.

Fitch ranks second in the conference and tied-11th in the nation in home runs with nine recorded so far this season. The shortstop/third baseman sits second in the WCC in RBIs with 29, a mark that ranks tied-14th in the country.

Morris sits second in the conference while Fitch sits third in runs scored. Morris’ 24 is tied-27th in the nation, while Fitch is tied-34th in the country with 23 runs. Morris also ranks second in the league with nine doubles, a mark that ranks tied-8th in the nation. Sophomore Abbie Fales cracks the top-10 with 14 runs so far on the year. 

Junior Karen Spadafora and graduate Jay Ross appear top-20 in the conference in hits, with Spadafora recording 19 through 19 games. Ross in her first season in the red and white has 18 hits on the young season in 19 contests. The pair both lead the Redhawk defense with Spadafora combining for a team leading 88 putouts and Ross with 62 putouts. They both rank top-10 in the WCC in putouts. Fitch aids with 37 assists.

Guiding from the circle is junior Berkley Vance. In ten appearances, Vance has led the Redhawks to four wins while pitching 46.2 innings this year. She has amassed 31 strikeouts, averaging 4.65 K’s per seven innings. She ranks fourth in the WCC in strikeouts. Morris also ranks top-10 in the conference in strikeouts with 29 this year. Morris has pitched 33.1 innings in nine appearances while guiding the Redhawks to three wins. 

Seattle U ranks second in the WCC and 49th in the nation with a .324 batting average. The Redhawks pace the league and rank 32nd in the country in hits with 180. Their 37 doubles, 135 RBI and 140 runs also rank first in the league. SU ranks second in the WCC in home runs with 21. Defensively, the Redhawks tie LMU for first with 94 strikeouts.

Seattle U and Washington meet for the 22nd time in program history dating back to the start of the series in SU’s first year in Division-I, 2009. The Redhawks are in pursuit of their first win over the Huskies in program history, trailing the all-time 0-21. The pair meet for the first time since 2024 after canceling last season’s meeting. 

Washington debuts at home after winning its last five games in San Diego over the weekend. The Redhawks collected two wins at the Judi Garman Classic, defeating BYU and East Texas A&M for the first time in program history. SU is 2-2 in road contests this year, defeating Hawai’i and UNLV. The Huskies are 2-1 against WCC opponents this season, defeating Saint Mary’s and Santa Clara. They fell to LMU at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

Following Tuesday night’s game, the Redhawks prepare to make their home debut, hosting Montana for a four game series at Logan Field March 6-8.
