STOCKTON, CA - Behind an outstanding start from Kale Hammer, Seattle U baseball took down Pacific, 5-2, Saturday night in California. The Redhawks held the home side scoreless until the 8th inning as they secured their first West Coast Conference (WCC) victory.

“Much needed win today," Head Coach Donny Harrel said. "Hammer was dominant with his change-up and Alwood shut the door, while the defense played really well and we had the timely hits when needed.”

Hammer went 7.2 IP and struck out a career-high eight batters while not allowing a single earned run to secure his first collegiate victory. The lefty retired 14 straight batters between the 3rd and 7th inning. Luke Alwood also made a scoreless appearance out of the pen, not allowing a hit and striking out two Tigers over the final 1.1.

Offensively there were four different Redhawks who recorded an RBI, led by Tyler Horner who had a 2-run RBI double in the top of the 7th. Hunter Komine had the game-high for hits after going 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

The victory moves the Redhawks to 4-14 on the season and gives the program their first win in the WCC, evening their conference record to 1-1. They will look to take the series in tomorrow's game three, with Micah Hagler set to make the start. First pitch from Klein Family Field is scheduled for 1:00pm PT.
