STOCKTON, CA - Seattle U baseball dropped their West Coast Conference (WCC) opener to Pacific, 4-6, Friday night in California. The Redhawks held a 4-run lead heading into the 8th, but a Tiger rally snagged the victory away.

“We gave that one away for sure," Head Coach Donny Harrel said post-game. "Farrell was outstanding and deserved to win that game."

Travis Farrell had a dominant start on the mound, tossing six scoreless while striking out six. Despite the no-decision he achieved his longest start of the season and had his first shutout appearance as well.

The Redhawks finally got Farrell some run support in the 6th, when a Tiger wild pitch scored Jake Beauchaine. They would add another in the 7th with an RBI single from Tyler Horner, and two more in the 8th off a 2-RBI triple from Payton Knowles

"Knowles had the big one to put us up four and then the bullpen got in trouble with not being able to control the moment as Pacific took advantage of it," Harrel added "Need to rebound tomorrow and tie the series back up.”

Pacific would erase the SU lead in their half of the 8th, scoring six on four hits to rally. Jake Morell (0-1) was credited with his first loss of the season after allowing the final two Tiger runs to score.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 3-14 on the season and starts their inaugural WCC campaign off with a loss. They will look to bounce back and even the series in game two with Pacific tomorrow, March 21. Kale Hammer is scheduled to make the start with a 3:00pm PT first pitch.
