BELLEVUE, WA - Seattle U baseball dropped game three of their series with Holy Cross, 2-7, Sunday afternoon at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks couldn't hold on to their early lead as the Crusaders scored seven unanswered over the final four innings.
Payton Knowles got SU on the board early, blasting a 360ft lead-off home run in the bottom of the 1st. Hunter Komine would drive in the only other Redhawk run of the day in the 2nd, singling up the middle and driving home Jake Beauchaine.
On the mound, Micah Hagler had a no-decision after going six innings while allowing just one earned run on seven hits. Isaac Hallam (0-1) was credited with the loss after allowing three earned over two innings of relief work.
“Hagler gave us a great start and deserved a better offensive day out of us to secure the win," Head Coach Donny Harrel said post-game. "Our bullpen and hitters did not react well in a tight game, and we need to bear down more in those situations to lock down tight games. Need to salvage a split tomorrow and create more run opportunities in the heart of our order.”
The loss drops the Redhawks to 2-9 on the season and puts them in a 1-2 hole in the 4-game series with the Crusaders. They will look to pick up the split tomorrow, March 2, with Luke Alwood scheduled to start on the bump. First pitch from Bannerwood is scheduled for 3:00pm PT.
