SEATTLE - The Seattle University women's tennis team faced off against Idaho and Montana State in their first home duels of the season this week.
The star of the week for the Redhawks was undoubtedly junior Lamija Avdic. She put up an admirable performance against Idaho's top players, dominating in doubles with partner Natalia Michta to win 6-1. Avdic similarly overpowered her opponent in singles, vanquishing Idaho's Chenyue Xu 6-2, 6-1.
Depsite not winning their doubles match, duo Avdic and Michta bounced back to claim both singles points for the Redhawks against Montana State. Avdic dispatched the Bobcats' Anna Wise 6-3, 6-2 to go undefeated in singles this week, while Michta defeated Nia Gelashvili 7-5, 6-2.
The Redhawks fell to the Vandals 6-1 on Wednesday, and lost 2-5 to the Bobcats Thursday.
Up next, the Redhawks will host Santa Clara in their first WCC duel. The match will take place on Sunday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mercer Island Country Club.
