OCALA, FL - The season came to an end for Seattle U men's and women's swimming as they wrapped up the National Invitational Championships this weekend. The event was highlighted be several program bests and podium performances from Brendan Ryan and Danielis Kvederis.
"I am so thrilled with the effort and results this week," Head Coach Joe Dykstra said. "It’s not easy to be at your best again three weeks post conference, three time zones away, while also preparing for final exams but these swimmers are demonstrating such a high level of commitment."
Ryan and Kvederis both took third on the final day of the championships. Ryan took third in the 200 Breaststroke at 1:56.78, and Kvederis had a time of 46.90 in the 100 Backstroke to take third. Kvederis also just missed the podium in the 50 Backstroke with a 4th place finish at 21.98.
A new program record was set in the 400 freestyle relay when Hawkins Wendt, Hennig Colsman, Jamie Crawford, and Kvederis combined for a time of 2:56.04. The finish was also good for 5th at the championships. The quartet also took 4th in the 200 freestyle at 1:19.37.
"We had a lot of program firsts at a national level meet," Dykstra added. "The growth of our program has been truly special over the last few years, and the team and coaches can’t wait to start the grind towards next year after a well-deserved few weeks off."
In total Seattle U men's swimming took 17th in the 30-team field with 239.5 points.
