SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s rowing takes to the water for its first competition of the 2026 season, traveling to the Puget Sound Invite for a 9 AM race on American Lake on Saturday, March 14.
The Redhawks put two on the All-West Coast Conference preseason team, with senior Sophia Schmidt and junior Camila Torres representing the red and white as part of the 24-woman preseason squad. The pair will guide SU into its first season as a member of a conference, as the program operated independently prior to the University joining the WCC in July of 2025.
Seattle U will race Puget Sound and Portland with its varsity eight and varsity four boats. Varsity eight races at 9:30 am and varsity four will take off at 10:10 am. Second varsity eight will race in between.
SU opens its competitive season at the Puget Sound Invite for the second straight year after racing both the Loggers and Pilots at the event in 2025.
Following the weekend, the Redhawks travel out of state to face the Oregon State Invite field, which consists of four of their new conference mates: Oregon State, Gonzaga, Portland and Santa Clara.
