SAN BRUNO, Calif.- Senior Taylor Fitch guided Seattle University softball to a 3-2 opening weekend record while playing a major part in the program’s multiple record setting performances at the Bank of Hawai’i Paradise Classic. The feat landed Fitch the team’s first ever West Coast Conference player of the week award.
Fitch combined for a .611 batting average in five starts over the weekend. She recorded 11 hits, including a double and three home runs, in 18 at bats, while tallying eight runs and 8 RBI. She amassed a 1.167 slugging percentage and paced the team with 11 assists.
Following the first weekend of Division I softball, Fitch ranks first in the NCAA in hits (11), fifth in home runs (3), second in total bases (21) and fourth in runs scored (8). She tied two others with most hits through the first weekend of action, one being teammate junior Avari Morris.
Fitch capped the weekend registering three straight home runs in SU’s final three games. She batted a game season high .800 in SU’s victory over Hawai’i while matching the program record with a new career high four hits. Fitch became the 14th Redhawk to match the record after Morris matched it the day prior.
In Seattle U’s record breaking 23 runs scored victory over North Dakota, Fitch scored three runs, a new career high for the senior third baseman. Fitch tallied four multi-hit games on the weekend while collecting multiple RBI in three contests.
Fitch’s recognition is the 15th ever player of the week award for the program. Since joining Seattle U as a sophomore in 2024, Fitch has now garnered one player of the week award each year since donning the red and white.
Fitch and the Redhawks return to action this weekend with a three day, five game stretch at the UNLV Desert Classic. They start the tournament against UC Davis on Friday, February 13 at 9:30 AM.
