SEATTLE - Journeying 2,677 miles to Honolulu, Seattle University softball (0-0) makes its official debut at the Bank of Hawai’i Paradise Classic from February 5-7 taking on the preseason tournament field featuring North Dakota, Pacific, and host Hawai’i. The Redhawks take to the field against North Dakota (0-0) on Thursday, February 5 at 4:30 PM PT.

The Redhawks grabbed four All-West Coast Conference preseason honors with Karen Spadafora, Mikee Morris and Taylor Fitch all landing on the 12-woman position players team. Berkley Vance represented Seattle U as part of the four-woman pitchers team. Seattle U was elected to finish fifth behind 19 points, only two and three points behind fourth and third. The Redhawks placed the highest number of athletes on the preseason team, only tying first place voted Santa Clara.

Seattle U returns 60.4 percent of its hit production from a season ago, with Fitch guiding the team now entering her senior campaign. The third baseman tallied 61 hits in 2025 holding a .349 batting average through 175 at bats. Fitch led the team in doubles (18), home runs (11) and RBIs (49).

SU’s returners made up 61 percent of RBIs, 58 percent of doubles, 78 percent of home runs and 64.3 percent of triples from 2025. Junior Avari Morris led the Redhawks in batting average last season, holding .418 through 110 at bats. The dual threat helped aid from the circle, combining for 67 strikeouts in 22 appearances in 2025. Morris made her way into SU’s record books, posting the team’s 12th ever no-hitter last year in the victory over Yale in Phoenix.

Leading from the circle is Vance, who comes off a career best 2.86 ERA. She led the Redhawks to nine wins in 2025 while accumulating a career season best 78 strike outs across a team leading 117.1 innings pitched in 25 appearances.

Aiding the Redhawk defense in her return is Spadafora. The catcher grabbed 267 put outs in 2025. Spadafora’s offense also makes the return, with the junior posting a .344 batting average and 52 hits a season ago. She matched Fitch with 11 home runs. Mikee Morris led the team with 102 assists. SU returns 58.7 percent of its recorded put outs and 86.2 percent of its recorded assists.

Seattle U and North Dakota have played seven times since 2008. The pair most recently met in 2019 where they split a pair of games in Seattle. SU holds the series edge 4-3.

SU and Hawai’i prepare for their 13th and 14th meetings. The Redhawks hold the series edge 7-5 after winning the last seven straight meetings. The pair met last in 2023.

Pacific and Seattle U meet for the tenth time in program history as the future conference mates battle in a single neutral site contest prior to West Coast Conference play. The Redhawks lead the series 6-3 after completing the season sweep of the Tigers in 2025.

Following the weekend, the Redhawks jet off to the desert for the UNLV Desert Classic where they’ll face UC Davis, Quinnipiac and UNLV February 13-15. SU debuts at home on March 6 against Montana.
