SEATTLE - Seattle U’s coincidental city sports tie to the Bay Area this first week of February first also features a Thursday meeting between Seattle University women’s basketball (5-17, 1-10 WCC) and San Francisco (13-9, 6-5 WCC) at the Redhawk Center at 6 PM.

Graduate Ella Brubaker leads the team in scoring on the season, ranking sixth in the West Coast Conference averaging 14.9 points per game shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 30.3 percent from three. Brubaker sits 22 points away from a combined 2,000 career points spanning her six years split between the NAIA and Division I levels. 

Brubaker ranks first on the team and fifth in the WCC with her 84.3 percent free throw percentage. In league games, she holds the second best clip from the stripe, shooting 92.1 percent. This season, Brubaker has combined for 30 steals and nine blocks and ranks eighth in the league in points (328).

Aiding the Redhawk scoring effort is redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin. Stricklin is averaging 10.9 points per game shooting 42.2 percent from the field while ranking 16th in the WCC in three point percentage (36.8). Stricklin leads the team in rebounds, averaging 5.8 a contest to rank 11th in the WCC on the year.

Freshman Jana Vesic orchestrates the offense averaging 2.7 assists per game, which ranks 16th in the conference. She contributes 8.1 points per game shooting 36.9 percent from the field. 

Guiding the Redhawk defense alongside Brubaker and Stricklin is sophomore Sydnie Rodriguez. She ranks top-25 in the conference in steals per game (1.3) and rebounds (4.9).

Ranking amongst the top-25 in field goal percentage along with Brubaker and Stricklin is junior Lucija Milkovic. Milkovic ranks ninth in the conference shooting 47.9 percent. She averages 3.1 made field goals a contest through 17.3 minutes of action a game.

Seattle U has combined for 500 made field goals this season, including 126 triples. The Redhawks rank first in the league in free throw percentage, holding a 78.9 percent clip from the stripe on the season. The mark ranks eighth in the nation. SU averages 34.3 rebounds, 6.6 steals and 2.9 blocks per game, ranking seventh in the league in blocks. 

The Redhawks and the Dons meet for the fourth time in program history dating back to the start of the series in 2011. San Francisco leads the all-time record 2-1 after capturing back to back wins over SU in 2014 and 2016. The pair meet for the first time in Seattle since 2014. SU is 1-1 against the Dons on First Hill.

San Francisco sits sixth in the West Coast Conference standings after boasting a 6-5 record in conference games so far this season. The Dons travel for their second straight game after coming off a 2-1 three game stretch at home which included wins over San Diego and Pacific. On the season, the Dons are 4-4 on the road and 3-2 in road conference games.

The Redhawks host the Dons for a night of Rudy Bowl fan fare featuring curated playlists of this Sunday’s half time performer and in game activations to match the excitement of Sunday’s match up featuring Seattle’s professional football team.

Following Thursday’s game Seattle U travels to San Diego for its second game against the Toreros. SU returns to the Redhawk Center the week of February 19 to host LMU and Portland.
