Redhawks Cap Tournament Play at Judi Garman Classic

SEATTLE - Seattle University softball (9-6) returns to Southern California for its final preseason tournament, traveling to the Judi Garman Classic hosted by CSU Fullerton from Feb. 27-March 1 where the team will face BYU, California, East Texas A&M, No. 9 UCLA and Fullerton.

SEATTLE - Seattle University softball (9-6) returns to Southern California for its final preseason tournament, traveling to the Judi Garman Classic hosted by CSU Fullerton from Feb. 27-March 1 where the team will face BYU, California, East Texas A&M, No. 9 UCLA and Fullerton.

Senior Taylor Fitch leads the team through three weeks of action, posting a .489 batting average accounting for 23 hits including nine home runs, four doubles, and 28 RBI. Fitch is on a six game hitting streak, recording at least one over the course of the past six contests. She currently ranks fifth in the nation in RBIs and tied-39th in hits while ranking first in the WCC in RBIs, first in runs, fourth in hits, second in home runs and second in slugging percentage (1.149).

Junior Avari Morris paces the West Coast Conference and ranks 28th in the nation in batting average, holding .528 through 53 at bats. She leads the conference in hits with 28 and runs with 21 while ranking second in doubles with eight. Her 28 hits ranks tied-3rd in the nation and joins Fitch tied-14th in the country in runs (21).

The dual threat also ranks tied-3rd in wins from the circle on the year with three and seventh in the league in strikeouts, handing out 21 in six appearances. She has pitched 22.1 innings on the season.

Senior Ava Sin ranks third in the WCC in RBIs with 21, a mark that also ranks tied-27th in the country. In 55 plate appearances, Sin has recorded 11 runs, 19 hits, six doubles and four home runs while holding a .380 batting average. Her four home runs ranks fourth in the conference and her 19 hits ranks tied-5th after three weeks.

Junior Karen Spadafora guides the Redhawk defense with 68 putouts on the season, where she ranks sixth in the conference. Graduate Jay Ross rounds out the top-10 in the league, posting 51 putouts in 14 games. Freshman Audrey Borup sits within the conference's top-15 in  putouts with 40. Fitch ranks tied-sixth in the WCC and leads the team in assists with 26.

Guiding the team from the circle is junior Berkley Vance. Vance has appeared in seven contests on the season and ties Morris in wins with three. She has pitched the fifth most innings across WCC pitchers with 35.2 while ranking third in the conference in strikeouts with 28. Morris ranks third in the league in strikeouts per seven innings, handing out 6.58 while Vance sits ninth with 5.50. Morris sits tied-seventh in the WCC with 21 strikeouts on the year.

The Redhawks rank first in the conference in hits with 145 recorded through 15 games. They have tallied a conference leading .341 batting average, 116 runs, 34 doubles and 113 RBI. SU ranks second in the WCC in home runs with 19 after coming off a seven home run weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Redhawks finished with the tied-7th most homers over the duration of the Mary Nutter.

Seattle U ranks 36th in the nation with its .341 batting average, 29th in hits, tied-36th in home runs, tied-13th in RBIs and 29th in runs. The Redhawks average the nation’s tied-17th most 7.53 RBIs per game.

The Redhawks debut at the Judi Garman Classic against BYU where the two programs will meet for the eighth time in program history and for the first time since the 2022 season. SU trails the all-time series 0-7 against the Cougars and goes for its first program win against BYU.

Seattle U and Cal meet for the third time in program history for the second straight season. The Redhawks trail the all-time meeting 0-2, falling 2-4 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in 2025. They go for their first program win against the Golden Bears.

The Redhawks and East Texas A&M clash for the first time in program history before SU takes on its second ranked opponent in as many weekends in No. 9 UCLA. The two have met one other time in program history back in 2013. The Redhawks aim for their first program win against the Bruins and second program top-25 win.

SU wraps the weekend against tournament host CSU Fullerton. The pair meet for the fifth time in program history and for the first time since 2022. The Redhawks trail the all-time series 1-3 against the Titans.

Following the weekend, Seattle U makes its home debut when the Redhawks host Montana for a four game series at Logan Field the first weekend of March after squaring off at No. 24 Washington in Seattle on Tuesday, March 3.
